Poetry over coffee

New book news....

'Honesty is the best policy' my new book is on sale now!!

This book aims to raise money for Central Mind Charity in Notts and is priced at £3.50 with 10% being donated to MIND charity.

It is my second collection of poetry and as the title suggests, it is more of an honest collection. I have included a variety of emotions to choose from: humour, happiness, anger, despair right through to mild annoyance and I hope that you the reader will find something of interest.

Writing is a great form of therapy and that is why I will be donating 10% of the proceeds of book sales to Central Mind Charity in Mansfield Notts, who are instrumental in working towards positive mental health for all.

If you are interested in buying a copy please email me at buf85@hotmail.com

Many thanks.

Review for Honesty is the best Policy

"This is Anita's second poetry book and what a delight it is to read poetry, that is so down to earth and honest. I love the story of June and her Victoria Sandwich early on in the book. People will be able to relate to most of Anita's poems because they probably know of characters like June in their own lives."

"The same is true of 'Flawed Judgement' -everyone will know someone like Mr Perfect. They will also be able to relate to the situations that she writes of - 'Coin' is just one example." Amanda Morgan - Editor of Splizz Poetry and Music Magazine.

Poems from 'Honesty is the best policy'

Some examples of poems from my new book 'Honesty is the best policy' are as follows enjoy!

Thanks for the memories

I came in briefly

the day I won the lottery,

just to trash her desk

the way she trashed

my life, over the years.

The inspirational post it notes

I delighted in feeding to the shredder.

All time sheets, meeting schedules

and helpful hints on how to be a better....

I burned to a cinder in the waste paper basket.

Spraying cheap air freshner

to cover my tracks,

I relaxed by the coffee machine

and waited for all hell...

to break loose.

Revenge is best served

with Mocha latte.

Better out than in

Never let it be said

that I don't care

may it be sung,

majestically from roof tops

soaring triumphantly in the air.

Higher than Concorde

would ever aim to dare

sing it loud and proud

let the world beware.

I don't care

I don't care

I don't care.

He is the one

He is the one and only for me

I come home ranting before tea,

berating myself and others

over pointless wonders, of the day.

He listens, calming me down

making all the right sounds

and when that doesn't work

he makes me laugh so hard

that I have forgotten everything

except the need,

to love him more.

Buffy and Beyond (The Therapy Years) is my first collection of poetry and I'm thrilled to be talking to you about it.

Buffy a superhero and fictional character, was a strong woman that I admired. I found the show to be for me, a form of creative therapy hence the title of the book.

My poetry collection deals with observations about modern life, including tributes to: growing up, family, nature, office work, love, money and other such matters.

Priced at £3 each, 50% of all profits will be donated to MIND charity.

SOLD OUT

This limited first edition book has now sold out.

Poems from Buffy and Beyond..

Downpour

Water

pummelling the road

knocking on earth's door,

begging for shelter

from itself.

Jolted v Jilted

Meeting again

the heart moves

just a little.

That unexpected

feeling occurs,

when bumping

in to the one

that got away.
